Welcome, Alumni! You play an important role in our program through your many contributions—serving on thesis committees, partnering on research projects, giving guest lectures, and providing financial support. Your generosity has helped us to establish numerous endowments that provide scholarships for our students. Your giving has also enabled the School to engage in activities that enrich the lives of our students, staff, and faculty, improve our ability to recruit the best faculty in the world, and allow us to enhance our endowment funds when special recognition is demanded.

Your support helps us to stay connected with our many alumni and friends. For example, in September 2005, we hosted our first-ever reception for alumni and associates at the American Fisheries Society annual meeting in Anchorage, Alaska. We held our second reunion in Portland, Oregon, in August 2015. These events gave many of you a chance to reconnect with colleagues, former classmates, and SAFS faculty and graduate students, and to forge new connections with SAFS researchers. We look forward to hosting similar events in the future.

Tell Us What You’ve Been Doing

We want to hear what you have been doing lately, and we invite you to update your information via our online form.

As part of our Centennial Celebration in 2019, we collected and published the stories of nearly 100 of our alumni. You can read these personal stories and accounts here.

We maintain virtual endowment plaques to acknowledge both our donors and the many student recipients of scholarships and support.

Twice each year, we produce a newsletter, which is distributed to all alumni on our mailing list (one issue is published in print and online; the other is available online). If you have not been receiving the SAFS newsletter and would like to, please sign up here. To update your physical mailing address please do so through the University of Washington’s Alumni Services.
