Global Health Law Summer Institute

From July 14-18, the law school will be hosting our Global Health Law Summer Institute, with a special focus on “The Access Challenge.” The link for information is:

In addition to days focused on access to global health, to health services, and to health care products, the Thursday, July 17 program focuses on Access to Sustainable Clean and Healthy Environments: The Role of International Environmental Law. Sessions will include:

· Sustainable Development, Environmental Law and Global Healthy (UW Vice Provost for Global Affairs Jeffrey Riedinger speaking)

· From MDGs to SDGs in Global Health Policy (UW Professor Global Health Kristie Ebi speaking)

· Nuclear Accidents, Contamination and Global Health/Aftermath of Fukushima Daiichi Accident (WA State Representative Gerry Pollet, Hanford Challenge Exec. Dir. Tom Carpenter, and Professor Joonhong Ahn from UC/Berkeley speaking)

· and environmental law breakout sessions:

o Environmental Justice (UW Law School Professor Todd Wildermuth speaking)

o Environment, Sustainable Development and Vulnerable Populations (Jamie Bechtel, New Course CEO)

o Agriculture Policy, the Environment and Public Health (Dr. Karen Lock, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine)

We would welcome your faculty, staff and students joining us for that day, or any other day they wish. They can register on the website for one day or multiple days. We would consider waiving the fee for students who cannot afford it.
