Mary Gates Scholarships – applications now accepted!

The Mary Gates Endowment for Students is currently accepting scholarship applications.  Mary Gates scholarships provide up to $4,000 ($2,000 per quarter for up to two quarters) for students to pursue leadership or research/scholarly activities.  These scholarships benefit students in the current academic year, and are open to all UW undergraduate students regardless of class year, major or residency status.   

Fall Career Center Workshops for Graduate Students

I am facilitating 6 career workshops just for graduate students (postdocs welcome!) this fall. Topics include faculty interviews and exploring non-academic career interests. Up-to-date details are below and I am happy to field questions about any of the events. Student- and instructor-centric programs are a large part of what we do in UW Information Technology (UW-IT), and we want to share some of the innovative technologies and services that you may take advantage of as members of the UW community.

The Office of Merit Scholarships, Fellowships & Awards has a very full schedule of scholarship-related information sessions and workshops for undergraduates during fall quarter! Details about the workshops are also copied below, in case it’s helpful to have in that format.

Scholarships 101 – Getting Started in the Search for Scholarships
Specifically designed for freshmen and sophomores, this introductory workshop provides students with information to begin the scholarship search and to develop a competitive edge for merit-based scholarships.
