Allyship 400: Solidarity Workshop
In honor of #QolorsForever, the Q Center, Ethnic Cultural Center, and D Center are working together to bring J Mase III from awQward talent agency to facilitate a workshop examining how we, as student and community leaders, can upgrade our organizing efforts in solidarity across social justice movements. We have to approach activism with an intersectional lens!
The College of the Environment is now accepting applications for several funding opportunities:
Diversity-Oriented Meeting Fund
Eligibility: Open to all CoEnv students. Students can apply for up to $1500 in support of meetings attended by CoEnv students where the central goals of the meeting include linking science to policy or real-world application, and advancing diversity and inclusion within the College, the University and relevant STEM fields.
The College has formalized its support for student-led, diversity-oriented meetings and I would love your help getting the word out to your students. Similar to the Student Travel and Meeting Fund, students (individually or as an organization) can apply for up to $1500 in support of meetings attended by CoEnv students where the central goals of the meeting include linking science to policy or real-world application, and advancing diversity and inclusion within the College, the University and relevant STEM fields.
Seattle MESA is recruiting for volunteers to help out at MESA Day!
Seattle MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement) will be hosting MESA Day at North Seattle College March 26th, Saturday.
We are looking for volunteers, who can participate in many ways, including: judge challenges, lead mini competitions, present demonstrations, and basic event logistics (taking pictures, serving lunch, for example).

In accordance with our (hopefully) constant efforts to improve the representation and experience of traditionally underrepresented groups in academia and the sciences, I’d like to invite any interested student (undergrad or grad), faculty or staff to a meeting to discuss the potential role of an organization for LGBTQ+ people in the Earth/environmental sciences here at UW. My goal is to get a regular group going at some point, and the purpose of this meeting would be to start defining what work needs to be done and how such an organization could be useful and effective.

The application 2016 Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program in fourteen critical foreign languages is now open.
The CLS Program is a program of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. It is a fully-funded overseas language program for American undergraduate and graduate students. With the goal of broadening the base of Americans studying and mastering critical languages and to build relationships between the people of the United States and other countries, CLS provides study opportunities to a diverse range of students from across the United States at every level of language learning.

The Yakama Nation Endowed Fund for Student Support was created to support the recruitment and retention of prospective and enrolled undergraduate and graduate Yakama Nation tribal members within the College of the Environment, and to deepen the connection between UW and the Yakama Nation via informal and formal gatherings, exchanges and co-learning.
