We just got great news about the continuation of the Woodrow Wilson-Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF) Fellowships for Aspiring Teachers of Color for the 2015 cycle. This will probably be the last opportunity for students to apply. The Woodrow Wilson-Rockefeller Brothers Fund Fellowships for Aspiring Teachers of Color seeks to help recruit, support, and retain individuals of color as public school teachers in the United States.

Our MissionThe Making Connections Program started in 1998, assisting low-income and first-generation students with college-readiness and guiding them with their goals through a practical, committed, and mentor-focused approach. Now in its 16th year, Making Connections has increased its cohort of students to 105 students, ranging from 9th-12th graders. 

STEM OUTreach Opportunity: please spread the word

Do you want to have an impact on the future of STEM Education?
The STEM OUT program seeks to broaden participation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math for youth from backgrounds historically under-represented in the STEM fields. We connect and support UW students and STEM professionals as mentors to high school students at TAF Academy (a public, STEM-focused school) in the South Seattle area.

We are several days away from the exciting opening exhibit of the “No Longer Invisible – In Their Own Words” project. Please join us in honoring the 30 AAPI students, staff, and faculty, who have shared their personal stories with us on Thursday, May 29th from 1pm – 3pm at the Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center (ECC). The e-series that have been sent out periodically throughout each week includes several highlighted stories.

Due to your strong academic record, you have been identified as a potential applicant to the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program at the University of Washington. IF you meet the eligibility requirements, we encourage you to consider applying for the program!
The McNair Scholars Program, which prepares students for doctoral study, is a federal TRiO program funded through a grant from the U.S.
