Apply for a 2016-17 SAFS Scholarship! Deadline: April 10

The School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences (SAFS) is pleased to announce the availability of undergraduate scholarships in 2016-17. Available scholarships may be used for tuition, books, lab fees, or other academic expenses. Scholarships are awarded for the 2016-17 academic year and are generally disbursed evenly over three quarters (Autumn, Winter, Spring) unless requested otherwise – awards cannot be applied prior to Autumn 2016.

There are only six weeks left for students to apply.
We will select nearly 1450 new students this year to receive up to five years of renewable funding, professional development support and industry exploration opportunities.

It’s time to apply for College of the Environment Scholarships for the 2016-17 academic year!

The following College of the Environment Scholarships are available for returning students:

College of the Environment Scholarships – open to all College of the Environment students
Clarence H. Campbell Endowed Lauren Donaldson Scholarship –  open to students pursuing an Oceanography or Aquatic & Fishery Sciences major
Yakama Nation Endowed Fund for Student Support – open to any Yakama Nation tribal member who is a student in the College of the Environment

We want to draw your attention to two College of the Environment Funding Opportunities that have Winter Quarter application deadlines this month:
1) College of the Environment Student Travel & Meeting Fund DEADLINE: Wednesday, January 20, 2016
Eligibility: Current students pursuing an undergraduate major or graduate degree within the College of the Environment who are giving oral presentations of their original work at national or international meetings OR  Student organizations that are organizing and hosting an interdisciplinary student-run meeting attended by College of the Environment students presenting their original research.

New Study Abroad Scholarships for STEM Majors

UW Study Abroad is excited to announce new scholarships for STEM majors studying abroad in the 2016-17 academic year.
The first scholarship, GO! STEMXchange, offers up to $5000 to STEM majors participating in a departmental or university-wide exchange program. Washington State residents eligible for financial aid (students do not have to be Pell Grant eligible) may apply. Visit the UW Global Opportunities website in winter quarter for more information. 

Student Grant Competition-Northwest Scientific Association

 We will award grants up to $750 for winning high school or undergraduate and up to $1,500 for winning graduate research proposals to support research in the pure and applied sciences conducted in northwestern North America!!

Boren Scholarship for study abroad

The Boren scholarship for undergraduates deadline is approaching and I’d greatly appreciate you sharing the information with your students.  The Seattle campus deadline is: January 11, 2016.
 Here’s the CliffsNotes version of the Boren Undergraduate Scholarship:
Award Amounts:

$8,000 for a summer program (special initiative for STEM students only)
$10,000 for a semester abroad (think about anyone you know going on a relevant exchange)
$20,000 for a full academic year
