The UW Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Student Chapter brings you the 2nd annual Nerdy. Set. Go! 5K run. This run is being held to raise funds towards scholarships for underrepresented students in STEM fields at the UW as well as funding for our SHPE chapter. My name is Alice Crowe, and I am this year’s director for the Queer Student Commission. I’m writing today to tell everyone that we are current accepting applications for new interns who are interested in LGBTQIA+ activism for the 2016-2017 school year. Interns are expected to want to get more involved in queer activism and help me plan, organize, and execute a wide variety of events, many of whom have historically been designed by the intern team.
We, in partnership with the Graduate School, are excited to announce a collaborative summit taking place in the Fall titled “Strengthening STEM through Diversity.” The event aims to bring together students, staff, and faculty in STEM-related fields in order to address the needs, challenges, and successes of underrepresented or minoritized members of these fields. The events of the day will include plenary talks, a panel of student leaders in STEM diversity RSOs, and a workshop with the goal of designing an action plan for future support of diversity in STEM.

This course provides an introduction to American Indian and Indigenous Studies, a field of academic research and teaching grounded in the interdisciplinary study of American Indian and Indigenous peoples with the collective goal of fostering individual and community wellness, political self-determination, cultural revitalization, and cross-cultural understanding.
On Sunday, June 26th, all University of Washington students, faculty, staff, and alumni, from all campuses, are invited to come MARCH with their fellow Huskies at the Seattle Pride Parade. LGBTQ or Ally, all are welcome!

Call for Symposium Volunteers!
The coordinators of the Living Breath of wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ: Indigenous Food and Ecological Knowledge Symposium are recruiting volunteers for this year’s Symposium scheduled for May 13-14, 2016 in the wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ (Intellectual House) at the University of Washington (UW).
We have a number of volunteer shifts available, which will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Please sign-up for volunteer shifts on UW’s Catalyst by May 6, 2016.

MAKING DISABILITY PUBLIC: ARTS, SCHOLARSHIP, AND ACTIVISM
Free public events will take place May 12-14, 2016, on the Seattle and Bothell campuses of the University of Washington. Sponsored by the UW Disability Studies Program.
Proposal deadline: April 1st. We are accepting manuscripts to be workshopped in small groups, posters, and art.
We request that you register by April 1st for any parts of the symposium you wish to attend.
