SAFS nominees for UW College of Environment Outstanding Diversity Commitment Award

The new College of Environment Outstanding Diversity Commitment Award celebrates individuals committed to being leaders in diversity and inclusion in the College, the University, and beyond.
Several SAFS students and staff were among the 2014-15 nominees, including one grad student named as an Honorable Mention (full list of nominees can be found here):

The Dream US Scholarship Program for Undocumented Students

The Dream.US Scholarship Program
Effective for the Fall 2014 semester, the University has embarked upon a new initiative in which it has become a partner institution with The Dream.US Scholarship Program to assist undocumented students in obtaining scholarships. The Dream.US Scholarship Program provides college scholarships to highly motivated students who entered the United States as minors under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) or Temporary Protect Status (TPS), and who, without financial assistance, cannot afford a college education.

We just got great news about the continuation of the Woodrow Wilson-Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF) Fellowships for Aspiring Teachers of Color for the 2015 cycle. This will probably be the last opportunity for students to apply. The Woodrow Wilson-Rockefeller Brothers Fund Fellowships for Aspiring Teachers of Color seeks to help recruit, support, and retain individuals of color as public school teachers in the United States.

Our MissionThe Making Connections Program started in 1998, assisting low-income and first-generation students with college-readiness and guiding them with their goals through a practical, committed, and mentor-focused approach. Now in its 16th year, Making Connections has increased its cohort of students to 105 students, ranging from 9th-12th graders.
