COASST Internships – Spring Quarter

The Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team (COASST), a citizen science program based at the
University of Washington’s School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences, is looking for interns for Spring
COASST works with approximately 800 citizen science participants, using their data on beach-cast
carcasses of marine birds to establish the baseline, or ‘normal’ pattern of beached bird mortality on
North Pacific beaches.

We are very excited to invite you to our annual writing workshop hosted by the SACNAS UW Chapter. This workshop is open to all undergrads, post-baccalaureate, visiting students and grad students. If you have a student who needs help writing an abstract, please let them know about this fantastic workshop that will take place on Monday February 29th, 2016 from 4:30 – 6:30 pm. 

Aquatic Ecology Internships in Alaska

We are a small non-profit research organization (studying fish, fish habitat and water quality) based in Talkeetna, AK. We are looking for two Aquatic Ecology Interns to help with our research program.
Position:  Aquatic Ecology Intern
Duration:  May through September.  Position is full time (40 hours/week). Work days may include
Saturdays and Sundays.
Location:  Talkeetna, Alaska

Climate Effects on Species Interactions in Terrestrial and Aquatic Systems
Mentors: Kileigh Welshofer (Graduate Student), Laura Twardochleb (Graduate Student), Dr. Phoebe Zarnetske (Assistant Professor)
Affiliations: Kellogg Biological Station, Long-Term Ecological Research, Department of Forestry, Department of Fisheries and Wildlife, Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, and Behavior Program, Michigan State University
Summary: The student will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with field based experiments in both terrestrial and freshwater systems. 

NASA Summer 2016 Internship Online Recruiting Fair Feb. 17

There will be  a Summer 2016 internship online recruiting fair on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 from 13:00 to 17:00 Eastern Standard Time.  All NASA facilities will be participating.  It will be a text chat environment, with each NASA center having a virtual booth, staffed with engineers, scientists, and education specialists from all over the agency.  You will be able to ask the engineers and scientists about their exciting work.

2016 Undergraduate Research Symposium – Application now open! (due Feb.22)

Dear Students,
The application for the 19th Annual UW Undergraduate Research Symposium is now open!  The Sym­po­sium will be held on May 20, 2016 in Mary Gates Hall.
The Symposium is a celebration of undergraduate accomplishments in research, scholarship, and creative expression in all academic disciplines.  Students may present their research either in a poster session or an oral presentation session.
